National, June 6: The employees of Blue Planet, one of Asia’s largest circularity and sustainability solutions provider, embarked on a significant environmental initiative by planting 100 saplings. The saplings were planted in the Green Belt on the periphery of the centralized Integrated Waste Management Unit maintained by Blue Planet with the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida. Blue Planet will continue to nurture these saplings with all care and maintenance along with GNIDA to ensure the maintenance of this green belt area. With the rise in extreme weather events, and the reduction of urban green belts, building these green spaces is crucial for relief from heatwaves.
The activity was led by Mr. Harsh Mehrotra, Co-Founder & CEO of Blue Planet Skills; Mr. Kapil Mehra, General Manager of HR; Mr. Deepak Raj Sar, Strategic Advisor of Sales & Marketing and Ms. Ekta Sachdeva, Marketing Manager and Ms. Priyanka Singh, Sustainability Manager for Blue Planet Group. They were joined by Mr. Parveen Sharma, Plant In-Charge of the Integrated Waste Management Plant in Greater Noida. Enthusiastic workers at the plant also joined in the plantation drive to showcase their commitment and dedication to environmental conservation and enhance the greenery of their local surroundings.
In addition to this, a street play on environmental awareness was organized in the market of Sector Gamma 2 in Greater Noida. This engaging performance highlighted the importance of everyday behaviour changes in adapting a more sustainable and responsible living, especially crucial as India battles extreme heatwaves. Simple steps like source segregation, water conservation, and responsible waste disposal could significantly contribute to a more sustainable future, further amplifying the message behind the tree planting initiative.
Prashant Singh, Co-Founder & CEO, Blue Planet Environmental Solutions said, “We are committed to promoting and ensuring circularity and sustainability in all our endeavours. We take our responsibility to the environment and the earth very seriously, which is why we consistently strive to advance our ESG goals. This planting and awareness generation through street play is part of the broader ESG initiatives we undertake on an ongoing basis. With climate change and extreme weather events becoming more frequent, and forest cover and green belts in cities dwindling, it is more important than ever to increase urban green spaces and increase awareness on the impact of lack of green cover on people and planet. These green belts provide crucial respite from heat and enhance the liveability of our cities.”
