Dr Medha Tadpatrikar, Director, Rudra Environmental Solutions said, “Awards are a realization and push that we need to keep doing more and more.”

The company was awarded at the 1st Global Conference and Awards, Exhibition on Recycling, Waste Management, Environment, Climate Change, EPR and Circular Economy held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on the 15th and 16th of June. The conference was inaugurated by Shri V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Babul Supriyo, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Shri Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment.

Curbing plastic pollution

Forty per cent of the 8 million tonnes of plastic waste generated each year comes from packaging which is used only once before it is discarded. In India, this waste is concentrated in high, density urban areas where plastic pollution disrupts urban ecology and infrastructure.

Moreover, a bulk of the plastic waste generated is not collected, segregated or recycled in the country; this ends up polluting water supplies and soil, harming the urban ecosystem and eventually leaking into the natural environment.

This is one of the reasons why it is important to find a sustainable way to deal with the growing plastic problem, especially thin-film packaging plastics that are traditionally assigned low-value.

Rudra Environmental Solutions, with the help of Blue Planet, provides a solution to this market problem and have been recognised for their effort to do so in an innovative and environmentally positive way.

Prashant Singh, CEO, Blue Planet said, “Rudra has been a pioneer in finding solutions for end of life waste plastic, especially thin plastic, which traditionally has no or low monetary value. They align perfectly to Blue Planet’s strategy of creating a socially inclusive and end-to-end waste management platform for solving the ever-growing waste crisis. We are looking forward to expand our plastic recycling projects across South-East Asia.”
